In the summer of 1909, Miss Marian Davis Maltbie visited Maltby, South Yorkshire (near Bawtry) and on Oct. 20th, 1909, she wrote, for the Maltby-Maltbie Family History, an account of her five days spent there, pp. 192-196.
(This is not the Maltby, Yorks, where our Maltbys originated. We take our name from Maltby in Cleveland, North Yorkshire--almost on the Durham border).
